    Happy July,

    Interest rates have gone up about 1 full point in the last month as of the last week in June they are about 4.5% They are still historically low, but for how long? The difference on a $300k loan at 4.5 and 5.5% is about $175 a month.

    There are two important free programs that you may want to know about this month.

    1. The MASS SAVE Program. State funded rebates for energy efficient central air conditioning heat pumps, split systems, and home weatherization. This program also gives you 75% back on up to $2,000 worth of insulation. I did it last year and we have seen a noticeable difference. It’s like free money!     2. GET THE LEAD OUT! For those that want to have the lead paint removed from their homes. The MassHousing's "Get The Lead Out” Loan Program has been Expanded MassHousing announced a major change in the "Get the Lead Out” lead paint removal loan program that will now allow all qualified households with children under age six to obtain zero-percent financing to remove lead paint regardless of whether the child is lead poisoned or in case management. Before the program change, zero-percent, deferred financing was only available to households where a child was lead poisoned or in case management the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP).
